Relief from IBS
(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

 What is IBS?

IBS is a disturbance of gut motility. The gut
pushes too hard, or for too long, or over too great a section of its length.
This can lead to following symptoms:

• Abdominal pain and spasm
• Diarrhoea and/or Constipation
• Bloated stomach
• Rumbling noises and wind
• Urgency - a need to rush and open the bowels
• A feeling of incomplete emptying of the bowels
• Incontinence if a toilet is not nearby
• A sharp pain felt low down inside the rectum
• Nausea, belching and vomiting

People with IBS don’t have any serious abnormality in their bowels, but to live with it can have serious consequences:

• IBS interferes with their social life
• Many people have to take time off work,

stop applying for promotion or give up work altogether

What does therapiesconnect offer?

  • Our hypnotherapy sessions help you to reduce anxiety and develop calming thoughts, which in turn reduces the negative thought patterns which trigger your IBS.
  • We will address the thoughts which create and stimulate the symptoms of IBS and teach you ways to control the speed of your bowel movement You will also learn ways to reduce or eliminate pain and discomfort caused by the IBS.

  • We will support you to express your emotions and heal deep wounds through body psychotherapy.

  • You get a food intolerance test, nutritional advice and natural remedies.

    • We offer help to you to take back control of your life so that IBS doesn’t control you anymore.

What are possible causes for IBS?

Interactions between the brain and the gut

One important cause is a disruption in the messages which are sent between your brain and your bowels. This means that your brain may be sending the wrong messages to the nerves controlling the muscles of your bowel.
We all experience at one time or another, some alteration in bowel function when under intense stress, such as before an important athletic event, school examination, or a family conflict.
People with IBS seem to have an overly sensitive bowel.

Emotional reasons

Repressed emotional issues like fear, anger and trauma which are not expressed find a physical way to the open – through the bowels.

Food Intolerance

Certain foods can cause the colon to malfunction, most common:
wheat, yeast, sugar, cow’s milk, beef and pork products, corn, coffee and orange juice
